Definition Definition: Supine

Supine:

Supine refers to the position taken when the front (ventral) area of the body is facing upwards, as when lying flat on the back. Supine may also be used when the hand is held with the palm up.

The opposite to supine is prone.

In the Alexander Technique, a semi-supine position is utilised in order to practice the Lying Down Procedure.
