ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"She may be a little bit spoiled, but hey, she's kept her man in a world where most walk away, has 3 kids, looks amazing (albeit a bit too thin for my tastes) and still has energy left to launch perfumes and do shows and design fashion!
I'm a fan. Posh Spice was my favourite.
And now, her cute book with the very friendly and personal banter and useful tips has gained a highly coveted position on my bookcase. I'd definitely recommend it for a girly treat. But mind you, she doesn't know where to shop aside from London and a bit in Paris. So if you don't live here, you'll get less out of the book. The tips are perennial, but you won't be able to make the most of "Top Shop has some great jeans" if you don't have TopShop in your home city."

"I quite liked this, but can't work out whether to recommend it to others because while it has a nice feel to it, the advice itself is a bit silly. You've either read it before or it's just not good advice! Would say though that I enjoyed reading it. Like other reviewers - I'm a bit on the fence too!"

"'That Extra Half an Inch' is a collection of style guidelines and tips, rather than a list of exactly what or what not to wear. Where-to-buy ideas are provided, but this book is more about Victoria Beckham's own fashion inspirations and passions. It's written in a friendly, witty style, making it very readable. It's beautifully designed and helpfully structured (there are chapters for different items of clothing and accessories, each followed by suggestions about where to shop); of course, it's no literary masterpiece, but it's certainly fun, likeable and - thanks to the fantastic design, photography and illustration - great to flick through.

Having already read this book in the hardback edition, I was surprised at how much this new paperback has actually been updated. There are stunning new photographs, new illustrations, and 'notes' pages for your own additions. The style advice has even been revised to reflect recent trends and accommodate new designers and brands.

Fans of Mrs Beckham, and those with a casual but non-expert interest in fashion, will find much to enjoy here. Compared to other celebrity books I've read - the majority of which have seemed rushed and devoid of personality - this really stands out; it's warm, funny, and packed with useful advice, and the gorgeous photographs and illustrations throughout make it as enjoyable to look at as it is to read."

"When I heard that Victoria Beckham was publishing a style guide I was curious. I'm not a fan, but I don't have anything against her either.

Having now read it (it took a day) I'm still a bit undecided. `That Extra Half an Inch' is written in a cosy style - it's like you're having a cup of coffee with Mrs Beckham. The book is nicely set into different sections; Tops, Day Dresses, Gifts (a lovely idea), make-up (disappointing) etc. And the photos are really stunning.

That said I didn't actually learn anything new. This book is mostly a higher end where-to-buy guide. Come on - are all of the designer names Vic drops really useful to the average person on the street? Are our husbands going to whisk us off to Paris and New York for shopping? (Even if they did have the money I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you).

Also, I think the book is sponsored by Top Shop; I lost count of the number of times the shop name cropped up. We can go to Gucci or Topshop, Fendi or Topshop, and so forth. She knows the name of a high street store, we get it; Vicky's one of us!!

I'm really conflicted in my view. A lovely, if impractical, style guide. I would get another book, if one was ever published, just because of the nice, intimate writing style.
