ABOUT THE BOOK
"This book provides a very concise yet diverse set of topics covering the history and science behind both recreational and medical usage of marijuana.
The book seems slightly biased towards medical usage of the drug, but also provides some small sections on details of recreational usage. More importantly, the sections covering pharmacological effects of THC are generalised to cover both medicinal and recreational usage.
I highly reccomend this volume if you wish to gain some scientific insight into the actions of marijuana while also gaining an insight other topics surrounding cannabis (including history, medical usage and recreational usage patterns).
However, be aware that some sections outlining the effects of marijuana on the central nervous system go into high levels of detail, which can be difficult to understand without a background in biology."

"I have workd in this field for some years. There is still a huge mythology that surrounds this subject, supplemented by black propaganda and poor quality clinical research. In this book the author provides an authoritative review of the subject separating fact from fiction. It is the most balanced account that I have read. It provides an excellant background particularly for those interested in the potential therapeutic applications. This should be the primary source of information for all health professionals interested in the area. It should also be mandatory reading for any politician or other individual who wishes to comment on, or influnce policy in this area. I strongly recommend this book."

"Cannabis use in the UK seems unable to be debated in public without the distortion of political and subjective, emotional opinion.
This book avoids all such problems. By addressing cannabis in a rational, scientific and objective way, this book gives the reader the most up-to-date, informative review of this drug available.
In taking a research-based, pharmacological approach, the book is free from any form of moral or ethical judgement. Cannabis is a drug, just like paracetamol is a drug, like alcohol is a drug, like prozac is a drug. And while this book is authoritatively informative, it is not beyond the understanding of the "general reader". I admit to getting a bit bogged down in the section around the pharmacology and physiological actions of the drug, but that was to do with my ignorance, not because of the way the book is written.
If you want to know the facts about cannabis, and to be able to impress people with your objective ability to debate the matter, then I heartily recommend this book. Be you psychologist, drug worker, drug user, or just interested bystander, this book has something for you all."
