ABOUT THE BOOK
"Like another reviewer of an Osho book on Amazon, I came to this book after a consistent period of Buddhist meditation.
Having read extensively around buddhism, Zen and Eastern thought generally, I have never come across such clarity in this type of book.
The first half of the book examines the underlying need for meditation, with emphasis on the malaise in Western society. The depth of thinking and the ease with which Osho translates Eastern thought for Western minds is stunning. The writing is truly beautiful.
The second half introduces the reader to the techniques and these are a varied bunch accompanied by fairly brief descriptions.
If you are looking for a quick fix book of meditation techniques, then Eric Harrison's "5 Minute Meditations" is probably better. If you're interested in the underlying need for the book, and Eastern thinking generally, I highly recommend it."

"Like another reviewer of an Osho book on Amazon, I came to this book after a period of exploring buhddist meditation. Having read a lot around zen, buddhism and eastern thought generally, I was blown away by how easily Osho takes complex eastern concepts and makes them accessible to western minds.
Firstly, the book is not a quick fix book of easy relaxation techniques. The first half of the book is conceptual, focussing on the problems of the western world today and the underlying malaise that makes meditation necessary. The writing is truly beautiful and of a quality rarely seen from modern authors.
The techniques in the second half of the book are varied and well described.
If you are not really interested in the spiritual side of things, then this is probably not the book for you. If you just want a quick fix of easy to understand techniques, then I'd recommend Eric Harrison's 5 minute meditations. However, if you are looking to go a bit deeper, then this is an excellent read."
