ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"I bought this book recently, and, despite the glowing reviews from others, I believe that five stars is an excessive amount of praise. In its favour, the season colour guide is excellent, and this alone justifies the three stars that I have awarded. However, I found the body proportion guidelines confusing, and some of the style advice a little dated, especially the fashion personality section. Carol Spenser's book is far superior in this regard, although this book has the edge on the colour section, and a hybrid of both books would constitute my ideal style guide. As a student, I felt I was younger than the target audience, but this book is ideal for anyone requiring colour analysis on a budget."

"I am now 14. I borrowed this book from my neighbor, it's so good, i haven't gaven it back since at least half a year. I really intend to purchase this book because i am a perfectionnist. I want to look the best i can! I love looking at people and noticing who wears clothes that suit them and i imagine others with clothes they should wear! If a color suits you in the 1980s it will in the 1990s! This book will always be great! First, there is alot of info to see what season you are, so it's easy to use. Then you know what 30 smashing colors you can wear. Plus there are other tips on makeup, types of clothes and hair color. I repeat: PERFECT"

"I am a 15 year old girl living in the 90's, and I have read almost every beauty book out there (Kevin Aucoin, Tyra Banks, you name it). Even though this book was written in 1973, none of the information is dated. Skin colorings don't change. This book is good for people of all races (black, white, asian, etc.) It's so easy to find your season. I discovered what colors of makeup and clothes I should wear, and also what colors I could dye my hair, what hairstyles to wear, what clothing styles to wear, what jewelry and so many other things! It is definitely worth the 15 bucks."

"I read this book in 1983 and it literally changed the way I think. I had understood the concept of color, but never applied color analysis to skin tone -- only hair and eyes. After reading this book, I determined my seasonal palette and have been faithful to it since.

It's nice to know I look good, and decisions have been simplified. Wardrobing gets easy with Carole Jackson's help."

"I hated going shopping for clothes until I studied this book. Now I know why (and which!) certain colors make me look healthy and others make me look extremely ill. And I spend much less time shopping -- I walk into a store, see there is nothing for me, and walk back out.

The cosmetics section has also been very useful; it explains how to suit my makeup to my face in both shade selection and area of application. I found out I'd been doing exactly the wrong thing to my eyes!

Now if only the clothing and cosmetics industries would get the word!"
