USER REVIEWS
"The info contained can't be out of date because it addresses the same issue as say The Linden Method does in virtually the same way BUT for a comparitively miniscule cost. Why spend hundreds just to be told the same advice as contained here?
Handly himself suffered badly and nearly came to suicide over it. Luckily he turned his whole life around in a fairly simple way.
The use of visualisations/affirmations spoken of by Robert Handly have been touched on by everyone from Buddha to Claire Weekes. Handly makes no pretense of having 'discovered' the method of reaching the subconscious but he does explain it far more thoroughly than most.
He is accurate in his assessment. The problem lies 100% with the subconscious which 'plays back old tapes' and alerts the limbic system at inappropriate times (basically the amygdala which is spoken of largely in the Linden Method). As Handly says, the propensity for irrational fear actually originates in the subconscious and lies there dormant until some trigger ignites it in our conscious world.(as we go about our daily business)
These dormant 'old tapes' have got to be erased and the amygdala re-set. Alpha re-programming is the best way but interestingly one aspect of what we know as cognitive behavioural therapy addresses it in the same way without actually explaining it like Handly does.
For example , imaginary visualisations, which are a POWERFUL tool to use, are also encouraged by EVERY phobia therapist today so HOW can this treament be out of date?. It takes awhile to learn and at first because our fear is ingrained and you do feel strange but stick with it. Medication, although helpful, suppresses the emotions to some extent. What is so 'out of date' about Handly's method? It's been used for decades with GREAT success by competitive sportsmen, public speakers, musicians, actors etc to conquer stage fright or promote ability & confidence. These ones have conquered & worked out the situation in their heads FIRST and then floated through the whole episode in situ.
Our own limbic system is ancient anyway and responds to the same tricks upon it and fools us in the same way time and again.
Learn Handly's method before you spend hundreds of dollars.

"Having battled first with panic attacks which developed into agoraphobia, I wouldn't recommend this book. Quite simply the techniques seem a little pseudo-scientific, not that psychology is an exact science, but you may as well buy a rabits foot and carry it everywhere you go. I have used meditation (which is probably the most effective thing I've found), if you try meditation, separate it from your panic i.e. do it regulary not just when anxious or you'll attach meditation to anxiety, you don't want that. I've had proffessional help form a CBT specialist, also very helpful. As for books there's one on amazon by christine ingham (I hope that's how it's spelt) which cuts all the rubbish and provides excellent UP TO DATE advice. I bought the book I'm reviewing now to make up the shipping price because it was so cheap, I honestly believe your money is best spent elsewhere. Professional help is best, but inghams book provides fact and pointers. If you are fighting with anxiety remember 'Drops wear down the stone, not by force, but by constant falling.'"

"This book is amazing. If you suffer with panic attacks and all the nasty things associated with it, you find this book reads like your own biography. The fact that the author has experienced panic attacks, also gives him a lot more authority on the subject. His writing style is excellent, friendly, very personal and to the point. It's like a friend talking to you, someone who knows what you are going through cause he experienced it himself.

I'm only half way and I have a lot of homework to do. His 5 techniques need mastering, and this will take time. Thus, this is not a quick fix solution, this book is not a quick read either as if you are serious enough about beating your demon, then time and putting into practice what he teaches is what is expected from you. It's rather a valuable selection of tools, that if it works ( and I do believe it will as I have felt some improvement already ), would cure you of the daily panic, you make you the master of your subconscious part of your brain, and not the other way round. The boss, as Robert calls it, is the emotional side of your brain, and also the culprit that is causing all the fear and iritional feelings. I can completely agree with that as I do suffer from some severe negative thinking, and some thoughts that would put the fear in any human being, mainly because they are so distressing and out of caracter. Finally, his approach works on various different levels, as you will also be given some advise on diet, an area I clearly can use some tips on. I'm a big coffee drinker and this is a stimulant that affects anxiety in the human body.

All in all this makes sense, and if he cured himself from the depths as a panic attack victim, then so can anyone do the same with his techniques. The best panic attack book I have read and comes highly recommended."

"As someone who has suffered from and anxiety and panic attacks badly over the past six months this book and others that i ordered came as a huge relief when they dropped through the letterbox because not only the information and suggestions in them about ways to get over your attackes but more importatly in may case, to read about others suffering exactly the same
symptoms and thereby proving that i was not 'losing my mind' as i was beginning to believe but that panic attacks are simply your mind giving the body false signals and thereby setting off a range of frightening physical reactions.

Handy explains in great detail the physical reasons for why we feel the way we do during an attack and a good portion of the book is given over to relaxation, visualization and meditation techniques to use not only during times of attacks but also as a preventative measure.

If you are suffering and finding answers hard to come by, get this book today, it is well written, informative and if nothing else it will give you the knowledge that you are not alone and that many millions throughout the world are going through this with you every day. This can be cured and this book is a very good start."
