ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"I love the previous Color Me Beautiful books, but this one is best avoided. Although only half their colour groupings have black as a good colour, they tell everyone to wear it. Many people (including me) look terrible in black, so this doesn't make me trust the author's claim to want to help everyone look their best. Definitely a big step backward for this organisation. Then there is a glaring error. About A-line dresses they say :'A great look for Rounds but avoid if you're a Triangle', while actually it's the other way round. Makes me wonder how many less obvious mistakes there are in the advice they give. If you want to know about the Color Me Beautiful approach, find one of their earlier books."

"I am also a colour me beautiful trained consultant and found it interesting to read what people thought of this book. The book is an improvement of the previous cmb-USA books and explains the updated tonal system we now use. It is suposed to be a taster, a start to your style journey...of course you will get so much more completely personal information if you come for a consultation. If it was all so easy we would not see the thousands of women (and men - please see Image Matters for Men) that we do. The book trys to give you the basic rules for you to get an idea of the colours that will suit you best. As for black, so many women refuse to stop wearing it even if it's not one of their best colours, so the book shows you the best way to wear it. Again the book talks about style personality and body shape, like so many books the information can be confusing, so have a personal consultation and find out what is exactly right for you!! The book is a fabulous starting point to whet your appetite written by two very experienced cmb ladies!"

"This book gave very straight forward advice but the pictures and ideas were a little dull. Having spent my entire life as a 'soft' person I changed my hair colour and moved into the 'clear' section but didn't really get the ideas I was looking for to update my new look. It is ok if you have never had any colour advice in the past but I would save my money and see a Colour Me Beautiful instead to get an individual assessment"

"A well written book with colourful pages and plenty of information on sorting your wardrobe out to suit your natural colouring.
I would recommend it - the only difficult part is deciding which colour scheme you belong to. This is rather vague on some points.
It makes a great gift for a sister or mother."

"Very disappointed with this book. I have the previous CMB book, and thought this would be an update. Instead, you "match yourself to a celebrity" (difficult to be objective if your colouring is similar to a celebrity you can't stand, impossible if you are not white-skinned) and the book then gives you some colours, not all of which will suit you, and it also goes to some pains to explain how "everyone can wear black". The premise of Carole Jackson's book is that you *can* wear whatever colours you like, but you will look *better* in some than others. Which means yes, you can wear black, but you may actually look better in dark brown or a dark yellow-grey. So a waste of space in this book - having said "you should only wear these colours in order to look great" it then tells you how to wear something that might not flatter you if, for example you are very fair (eg a "spring" in the CMB book).

The latter part of the book, covering clothing to suit your shape, is better done by the Trinny and Susannah's what not to wear series.

I gave this book 1 star, because other books do the same thing only SO much better."
