ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"This is the only baby book you will need. I have read, from cover to cover, other books by leading baby experts and "Baby Secrets" is the one that I keep returning to for the help I need. It is a very well thumbed book! It is written in a very accessible style with clear illustrations and real-life examples. Rather than just one routine, there are lots of routines to try, depending on your baby's age and natural sleeping pattern. Unlike other babycare books, this one outlines how to settle your baby for sleep and offers solutions when there are problems doing so. Particularly helpful are the chapters titled "problem solving" for day and night.
For the first couple of months I was really struggling to work out what my baby needed and why he was crying. I found the advice that the midwives and health visitors were giving very vague and, with hindsight, not helpful at all. I felt powerless and anxious every day. Having had enough of my baby feeding and sleeping on demand, I started to implement the techniques suggested in the book. By three months my baby was sleeping from 11pm to 8am. A few weeks later he was, and still is, sleeping from 7pm to 7am. I personally feel that, using one of Jo's routines and by implementing her techniques, I have a happier, more contented baby and I am a happier and more confident parent. Everything she says makes sense.

"I was beginning to think that I would always be getting up to feed my 5 month old at least twice a night until a friend recommended this book. The advice on how to get your baby to go through the night without a feed is great and really worked for us.

That said, the spaced soothing technique hasn't worked as well for our little boy and I've reached the conclusion that whilst it may work for some babies, every baby is different and it therefore won't work for all. It's a useful technique to try though. Despite this, I would recommend this book for new parents - particularly those wanting to help their baby go through the night without needing a feed."

"I brought this book having been disappointed with the methods used in other more well known books and it gave us our life back! The advice and techniques are easy to follow and providing you follow the routines, your baby will be healthy, happy, contented and above all will sleep through the night.

I have brought this book for several of my expectant friends and really do believe its the best and the only book any expectant or new parent will ever need."

"I too bought this book when i was pregnant. I was ready to do the space soothing, but it hasn't worked once. Also how do you stick to a routine when it can take an hour to get my baby to sleep? My daughter is ten weeks and sleeps really well at night but her naps aren't very good. I'm hoping it gets better. Don't get too stressed about routines try to feed every three hours if you can and do whatever it takes to get them to go to sleep so you can sleep."

"This was given to me as a gift when I was pregnant and I left it on the shelf - silly me. When all other books were just not fitting me or the baby I pulled it out and it was a revelation. Things made sense and the routines were a god-send. It's easy to read and easy to follow and our little one has been sleeping through since 6 weeks! I can't recommend it enough."
