It is easy to get bogged down in thinking of the oils therapeutically as just a random list of actions - e.g. analgesic, antispasmodic etc. Lawless offers information on historical use and mythological profiles of the individual oils, and makes you feel you are learning about individual friends. She also gives some interesting examples on the history of aromatics which is not just the same old rehash which you can tend to get repeated from book to book."
