"I originally read this book 8 years ago, when I started dating my boyfriend who is now my husband of 3 years. I didn't pick it up again until recently, when I mentioned it to a friend. Of course, now that my husband and myself are living together, the dynamics of the relationship have changed quite markedly. Apart from explaining the usual differences in how men and women think and behave (which in itself was a revelation at times), the book also covers top 20 turn offs (which was a useful reminder of do's and don'ts). In addition, the book delves deeper into damaging and passion killing behaviours which women get trapped in eg. `taking up a mothering role' and `filling in the blanks in a relationship' in order to `earn love'. It also covers why although you may be giving yourself totally to your man, he can become resentful and bored because of this. I found this book immensely useful and eye-opening with simple explanations to help understand behaviours of men and women. I am now working towards letting go of some of the mistakes that I have inadvertently been making in order to make myself indispensable and possibly taking over from where my husband's mother left off rather than behaving like a wife and partner !!! This book is full of useful information and straightforward advice about understanding and communicating with men and is strongly recommended to anyone who is married or in a serious relationship. Moreover, the same principles can be applied to relationships with your father, colleagues and boss etc. Picking the book up after a number of years, it didn't hurt to be reminded where I might have been going wrong (and yes, it is mostly women that get it wrong by their wrong reactions to the way that men simply are). One of the few books I've read which is worth its weight in gold."

"I read this book many years ago and having just celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary feel I am in a position to confirm how brilliant this book is. Barbara's advice has come back to me time and time again. When I first read it completely changed many of my preconceptions that I was not even aware of. There were 'Victorian' values subtly running through my 21st century relationship and Barbara empowered me to chuck 'em out and enjoy life and enjoy my husband! I have recommended this book to many people over the years and it always hits the spot! "

"This book is well written, informative and helpful. The author is intelligent, articulate and does not patronize her reader. She gives valuable insight and interesting psychological arguments behind her theories. If you just skip the first section about how men are from another planet, then you will find a very readable and useful book. I would highly recommend the chapters dealing with the 6 mistakes all women make and the chapter about the top 20 turn offs! Very Very Interesting and Insightful. Even if you have read a million books about men and relationships. I am sure that you will find some new, and realistic advice that can benefit any reader in her understanding of men."

"This book contains so much insight and information in to the minds of men and the mechanics of relationships, it is amazing !
Women will be suprised to discover all of the mistakes that they have been making, especially if they don't think that they have been making any !
The author discusses her theories with a logical manner and never dumbs it down. Forget "Men are from Mars....", which is over simplified and patronising...Barbara talks to women as adults, which makes a refreshing change from a lot of relationship books. The list of men's top turn-offs is a highlight ! Very informative and educational.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about what men are really thinking....so I guess, that's most women !"
