"THIS IS A VERY BASIC BOOK FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL OF MARTIAL ARTS,IDEALLY IT WOULD SUIT WOMEN WHO ARE JUST LOOKING FOR SOME BASIC SELF DEFENCE TIPS"

"I know that this review may seem quite harsh as how good would you ever expect a teach yourself a martial art book to be. However, having come across so fairly good BJJ books that help in addition to your training and having heard so much about Krav Maga I thought I'd look at this. This, to be perfectly honest, is aimed at people who do not know any better. The reviewer who claimed to be able to learn the art from this book is deluding himself and only the knowledge that he is very unlikely ever to be in a situation to have to call upon his new techniques save me from despair. The book whilst neatly presented unfortunately fails to capture what I feel is a very difficult martial art to convey and learn. The best thing to hope for from this guide is that you like the concepts present enough that you will go and find the closest qualified Krav Maga instructor and take some classes."

"This book is AMAZING. I've often been a critic of martial arts books because it's very hard for me to learn from books. The creators of martial arts books don't always make it easy to learn from their books either...and let's face it, some martial arts don't lend themselves well to book form.
David Kahn has OUTDONE himself with Krav Maga: The Contact Combat System of the Israel Defense Forces. The format of this book is very eye catching and uses a lot of bold text, boxed text and special sections to hold the readers attention. While much of the material can be considered "basic self-defense" by some standards, I found myself learning a new perspective on every nearly every page. Even though I've seen these techniques before, I had never seen them packaged and categorized in the way David has done it.
I'm going to make a bold statement here...I can actually learn Krav Maga from this book! That's right! We all know that going to a class is the best way to learn any martial art. But this particular book even surpases DVD's in my opinion in an applicable way to learn effective self-defense.
I try nearly everything that lands on my doorstep for review. I enjoy a lot of it, but nothing, not one thing on this website has impressed me the way this simple book did. I wish I owned 50 copies and could give them out to family and friends.
If you follow what David is saying and practice in the SUPERB way he has it laid out, you will learn self-defense and Krav Maga. I am following David's 12 week program right now and I will finish it. I was VERY sore after the first day which was a suprise! This isn't just a fitness program or something, you are drilling the techniques and building muscle memory.
Summary: I have quite simply never come across a martial arts book THIS inspiring and THIS good...ever...period. It's a MUST READ for anyone concerned about self-defense, fitness or Krav Maga."

"After borrowing this book from a friend and knowing very little about Krav Maga I was pleasantly suprised at how interesting and captavating the book was. The author keeps your attention throughout and each chapter has enough detail without overloading the reader.
This a is great book for a beginner or anyone interested in learning more about Krav Maga. David Kahn is an authority on the subject, an internationally renowned Kravist and thouroughly nice guy.
Needless to say I now have my own copy of this book and I am a convert to Krav Maga. (Good job David). "

"A truly inspirational book!
Easily the best book of this genre.
Whole heartedly recommended to anyone wishing to learn Krav Maga.
Having been training in Krav Maga for a while now this book is a true motivational and reference aid. Incredibly well written and all moves are explained in easy-to-understand instructions, more importantly you`ll retain what you learn.
I would definitely classify this book as a must-buy item if you wish to learn or would like to improve in Krav Maga.
Consider other Krav Maga books but only AFTER you buy this one.
Well worthy of a 5 star review!!"
