"I really found this book useful. Living in Corfu without the help of my own mum or a midwife I found this book so helpful my baby is now 3 and a half months old and having followed the books advice is in a geat routine, sleeping through the night. He is a healthy and happy baby and I feel that even now it is nice to look for what jo says will be the next things he learns to do. Great book. I loved it!!!!"

"Unforunately, this book will sell well because of Jo herself, not because she's really that much of an expert on baby care. Being a nanny and being a mum are two different things. Further, I was disappointed that she insists on vaccines when new evidence is coming to light of their dangers to young infants. Also, her ideas on breastfeeding are just not that well thought out and up-to-date. She definitely has a "follow-the-heard" mentality and is not very original. "

"I thought this book was very helpful, especially for first time mums. I think some people miss the point of this sort of book. There is no "perfect guide to bringing up children", and so this book is rightfully not set in stone. Some people might call this vague, however i would say that it gives many examples of strategies which can be used, as children are all different. Babies are supposed to cry....its how they communicate, so those hoping the book will show the way to stop this will (quite rightly) be disappointed!!! Jo advises on giving your baby lots of cuddles, and not introducing controlled crying at bedtimes too early. Many child psychologists and theorits agree with this, as do I.

I agree with most information and advise in this book, and found that it gave me the confidance i felt i needed (in the first month especially)as it supported many of my own views. Worth a read."

"Full of vague and conflicting information and the routines are all over the place. Jo maintains that you can't spoil a new baby so if she cries, pick her up and give her a cuddle. Now, thanks to this "wonderful" advice, I have a completely miserable 10 week old baby who can't be left alone for a minute without screaming to be cuddled.
The practical stuff like how to change a nappy, give her a bath etc. is good if you don't know how, but you can read this kind of thing on any parenting website.
Definitely wouldn't recommend this book."

"Mum of a 14 week old.

The book is nicely written and easy to follow. It seems we have the same theories on raising a baby and I can whole-hartedly agree with everything in here so that is why I decided to give it SOME stars. However it is just so vague and lacks ANY real information.

This really has been written through rose tinted glasses. I have an extremely calm and happy baby (either because I was blessed or because I refuse to be fazed by a tiny innocent baby which in turn keeps her calm) but I am aware not many people are as lucky as me and will be in for quite a shock after reading about the little effort you have to put in to achieve angel status baby.

It touches lightly on every aspect of bringing up baby before skipping on to the next without looking at problems that arise in every one of the areas she dusts over.

I wanted/needed a book to help with individual/specific/unusual problems like why my baby has decided to take less of her feed and feed more often. Supernanny is famous for her ability to understand children and explain why they do what they do and how to put it right but it seems she has written this book to help you plan the arrival and keep baby alive.

It is ideal for a mum who really thinks they do not have a clue about raising a baby. With the advice in this book you will keep your baby safe and well without doubt, but if you want to know why your baby's behaviour changes from time to time, why they do things they've never done before, do things they havent done for months etc, you wont get any help here. Absolutely no behavioural advice/information whatsoever.

Such a shame because Jo is clearly a wonderful nanny and I would trust her 100% with my daughter but I there is nothing in this book I could learn from."
