ABOUT THE BOOK
"This is without doubt THE best book I have come across with 10+ years of experience with therapy and self-help books for eating disorders. As a recovering compulsive overeater, this book has been a great help to get me back on track when my therapy sessions had ended and I hit rougher times. It is utterly realistic with many examples of how you might be feeling, it is not faddy, but kind and honest in its words and advice. I would never get rid of my copy because it is grounded and sensible in its suggestions. Of course, you have to be prepared to put in the effort that you can as recovery does not come overnight, but little by little and with practice it came for me with the help of this little book. Very highly recommended for help with all eating disorders, this book is about recovery and progressing and moving on, good solid advice."

"This book is easy to follow. You can either read it all in one go or dip into whenever you feel like it. I would suggest it to everyone who is trying to get help for an eating disorder and (as in my case) those who have received the help and are tentatively trying life out without the support of a counsellor anymore. It provides that bit of support when you're feeling wobbily and helps you to continue to move forward with the confidence that you aren't alone."

"This book is really good for anyone who is trying to recover from an eating disorder especially from bulimia. It is very easy to read and understand and very easy to realte to."

"I am in recovery from bulimia and have used this book in my therapy sessions. It is very realistic but you have to be prepared to work hard and refer back to it often if you want to see results.I have had bulimia for 11 years and have tried many other self help books, this is the only one that has helped because it does not just focus on eating problems but also on psychological and life issues. However,it does work much better in the context of therapy or with a close friend who can help you through as the book itself recommends."

"As far as self-help books go, this is pretty good. Of course the book is only effective if the sufferer is actually ready for help, a fact which is acknowledged by it's authors.(Of course this can be said of any self-help book). There are some interesting tasks in it which I made an attempt to undertake and one or two of these tasks even made me think and assess my behavior a little. The book is written in a relatively up-beat way wich had me momentarily charged up and ready to beat this thing. However, this is not the type of book that you can read and then discard, you nearly need to carry it around with you, dipping in to it now and then to keep up the momentum. There is a lot of case studies which new-comers to the illness may find helpful for identifying with. Personally speaking it really is a case of 'been there done that' and this book will join the dozens of similar books on my bookcase. Please note that this is a result of chronic bulimia rather than any shortcomings with the book. Sadly, there are no miracles out there for a problem such as this but if you have suffered for a relatively short period of time, this might just save the day. If you have suffered bulimia for several years, I doubt that any book can realistically change anything."
