"My aussie sister in law gave me this book and it has been invaluable so far. There is a very comprehensive index, and so far not one issue has come up that the book has not covered. I also like the fact that she does not preach or "tell", rather she provides a variety of options and ideas. An excellent guide, I will buy one for my friend who is expecting."

"I bought a few baby books when my daughter was born, but this one was given to me and beats the others hands down. It is written in a non-judgemental, easy going manner that helps you develop the confidence to trust your own judgements and do what is right for your child and yourself - particularly important for first time mums. It covers pretty much everything, and as another reviewer pointed out, gives options for dealing with the different scenarios you will no doubt encounter! From sleeping, to breast or bottle feeding, weaning, behaviour etc. it is always interesting, giving you knowledge rather than telling you what to do, never judgemental or bossy, and i could not recommend it more."

"I was given this book as a gift when my daughter arrived. I had purchased numerous other books to consult. This is the only one that I could consistently rely on to cover all issues that arose or could have arisen. It is brilliant with the advise given in a very relaxed, simple and no nonsense manner! The book is set out in four parts- Birth to 3 months; 3 to 6 months; 6 to 9 months and 9 to 12 months. It covers all issues relevent to each stage. The comprehensive index is a great shortcut!
At no stage does Robin Barker TELL you what to do instead, she provides a number of options. She is a very experienced in the field of children and this comes through very clearly in the book.
