ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"'Ergogenics Edge' pursues the knowledge of sporting success in physiological, biomechanical, psychological and nutritional terms.

It acts as a in depth learing aid, as it covers the basic physiological make up and mechanics of the human body. And deals with both the build up and fatigue of these systems.

It then moves on to take a look at the various sports perfomance factors relative to these systems and particular sporting activities (those which differ in intensity, duration etc).

Finally it answers common questions about ergogenic aids, and 'expertly' deals with over 60 specific aids detailing their use, benefits, the theory behind their effects, indeed their effectiveness, safety, legal and ethical aspects, and recommendations.

As I said above this book is more a learning or teaching aid (as it reads much like a text book - which I guess it is) than a relaxing read from front to back. (Unless of course this subject interests you greatly).

As a health student I found this book more useful than I expected. Great as a quick reference for both questions relating to body mechanics and specific ergogenic aids.

However on first reading, without any prior knowledge on the subject, I found 'Ergogenics Edge' a little confusing and at a more intermediate level than beginner.

'Ergogenics Edge' - for me - left few stones unturned in the quest for trying to understand the diverse effects of ergogenic aids and indeed their attraction to the athlete, and the 'Joe Blo'.

This 'bible' is a must - if knowledge & understanding of all aspects and effects concerning ergogenic aids and the human body is what your after."
