ABOUT THE BOOK
"Andrew Blackwell, Person Centered Student Counsellor,Bishop Otter
This book is a must for all psychotherapy and counselling students whatever " hat " you wear. It provides an intriguing and novel insight into the therapist / client relationship and brings to the author new concepts of understanding by focusing strongly on the client and showing that it is here that we have the most to learn. For the first time the tables are turned and we have a professional admitting to self appraised errors in practice yet outlining a clear and digestable learning from both this and all relational and therapeutic aspects of the client. Get out there and buy it or you will have missed a key plateau of learning."

"Casement offers an excellent book for the student therapist about to enter into practice. His explanations to situations are intriguing - and this keeps the reader interested.
This book combines both of Casement's original works: "On Learning from the Patient" and "On Further Learning from the Patient" into the one book.
There is usually an explanation to situations (even if many explanations) and Casement details many ways of looking at the therepeutic relationships in this book.
Casement even demonstrates to the reader where the author has made mistakes during the therapeutic process - and describes how he identified what was happening, and the steps he took to correct himself.
Uncomplicated in his style of writing, he writes as a friendly mentor.
I originally purchased this book for my with with the psychodynamic model, however I would see that many therapists of many models could make use of this excellent book."

"I found Casement to be fascinating in his explanation of the interaction between he and his patients. He described his thoughts and ideas in an uncomplicated manner and as a student I found this to be most helpful. After reading his book, a lot of things finally made sense to me. I strongly recommend reading this book to all clinicians as it can be used within any framework and theory"
