ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"Have just got back from holiday today - 12 hours, 3 legs both ways and I simply couldn't have done it without this book. I was on the verge of getting valium from the GP but I thought I'd give this a try first. I read it before and during my outbound journey, but by the time I was on my way home I felt that I knew enough about my particular fear (turbulence) to handle it 'on my own'.

The book is very informative, the author has an incredibly down to earth style, and is so readable that I found bits of the text popping into my mind like affirmations ("turbulence is uncomfortable but not dangerous" for example)

I wouldn't say I was 100% 'fearless' now but I didn't spend anytime of my holiday worrying about the return journey. In fact, after reading this book I'd quite fancy having a go at flying a plane myself!"

"Easy to read book that addresses many questions about flying. But if you are truly terrified or phobic about flying it will not cure you. In fact it gave me additional worries I hadn't had before. I read it many times and am typing this as my firends have flown off to Scotland and I was again unable to board the plane. "

"Having been anxious about the flight since the holiday was booked I was becoming more and more stressed as my holiday approached. I was seriously beginning to wonder whether I would be able to travel. Family and friends were recommending I get Valium or Beta blockers from the doctors but I dont want to go there.
My husband spotted this book and bought it for me, even though I felt really anxious when I started reading it, but within a few pages I was beginning to relax as the friendly informative style began to normalise the business of flying, I was even laughing at some bits!
I now feel relaxed and am looking forward to my holiday, even taking my children on to the plane doesnt feel like the death sentence it had before. A brilliant book, get it even if you arent frightened of flying but are interested in understanding a bit about the how's and why's of air travel.
One other thing you may find useful is to contact the airline you are flying with as I was able to get reassurance from the Fear of Flying team, they are current air crew and are used to all sorts of questions from anxious passengers."

"Although the book seems aimed at nervous fliers, I had never flown before and was in search of a book that would put my mind at ease before my first flight. I found the book easy to read and covered many of the topics I was interested in, for example how does the plane take off. I enjoyed the book, and it put me in good stead ahead of my first flight which I can happily say was a success. I'm now looking forward to holidays abroad without the anxiousness I felt before I read the book and had my first flight."

"This book is excellent. I have flown all more life initially without a problem but became gradually more and more anxious, until I was absolutely terrified and spent flights having panic attacks and in tears. After reading this book I have now flown to Europe, the US, and Africa (even in 4 seater planes round Kenya!) without a problem. I even take it with me on the plane to read if I start to feel a bit anxious. I thoroughly recommend this book."
