ABOUT THE BOOK
"As mentioned previously it can be a bit troublesome getting to the "Nitty Gritty" in this book, but the wealth of information is very informative and I'm glad I forced my way through it.
I was only able to do this diet for 3 weeks, but the results in 3 weeks was totally mind-blowing. I used to feel ashamed looking in the mirror, but after about a week or so I couldn't pull myself away, the results are unbelievable.
I never told anybody I was doing this diet. I was always in the gym pumping iron but never could get the right diet and was a weakling when it came to burgers and chips. But after I showed my face after three weeks everyone I knew went crazy, "how did you do it, whats going on, wheres your other half," and within days everyone was buying the book as well as smoothie machines and a set of dumb bells.
Had to stop due to an accident, but looking to jump on this again as soon as Im able."

"This is a very good book.
I like it because it provides plenty of information and sensible advice. If anything, the title might be misleading. This is not a diet book, it is a book about balanced and healthy nutrition.
The program is not a diet, trust me. Sticking to it does not require much effort, but the results are very good. I have followed it for two months and my body has radically changed its shape. I have lost lots of fat and I feel much better.
Only a couple of comments.
1) I found the book quite long. The same information could be given in fewer pages. Often the same concepts are repeated several times.
2) To achieve very good results it is necessary to work out. I refer to both cardiovascular activity and strength training. Anyway, this is clearly stressed in the book.
3) If you think that by following the program you are going to develop a much better-shaped body, feel healthier, lose weight, lose fat, build muscles, etc..., you are right. These expectations will be met. However, if you think that in a couple of weeks you are going to get a six-pack, you are profoundly mistaken. A six-pack is not easy to attain, and often achieving this goal entails sticking to unhealthy diets, which are not sustainable for a long time. Be realistic, and not a narcissistic gym freak. This book is about healthy nutrition for life, not about extreme and unhealthy diets for non-sustainable bodies.
A last comment.
There are 6 books written by the same author. All the books say the same things. Many chapters are exactly the same. Just buy this book, which is the first in the series and the most comprehensive. Buying the others as well is a waste of money.

"I would have given this book a four star review, save for the constant self-promotion throughout the book. For gosh sakes! We are already READING the book, can't you save the advertising for someplace else? In addition, the author bashes every other diet he can think of--with the exception of Body for Life (which has nothing he can bash, so he ignored it). No need for that. I'd rather read what's good about THIS and why we need the certain things he touts, rather than read about how bad these other diets are. As we know, Atkins works for a lot of people.
The Abs Diet is one of the only books I know about that is pretty much exclusively for men. A lot of women, however, have found this book to be right for them, too. With this in mind, I wish the author would have specified the fact that women really need smaller portion sizes than men and less calories, as well. This is a criticism I really believe is well-founded. I haven't read the updated version that was exclusively sold by Rodale yet. Maybe that information is in there.
The Abs Diet is founded on solid and current information. It's important to eat approximately every three hours so that our metabolism is at optimal speed. When we do not eat and skip snacks, not only are we more likely to feel we're "starving", and overeat later, our bodies are also more likely to go into starvation mode--and begin to burn muscle for fuel. . . a state we want to avoid.
The author explains how our body utilizes different foods (although I thought the acronym made out of ABS DIET (something else, I forgot), was not useful for me), how our body responds to exercise and rest and how to go about beginning this program.
It's an entertaining read, as well, and the recipes are pretty tasty! "

"This book is one of those filler for fillers sake books, which fattens up the book with slightly irrelevant information just so it can reach a word limit. Don't get me wrong this book is great, but it is essential you read through the filler to reach the killer chapters.
My main negative points- there is a chapter dedicated to disecting the other current famous diets, also a few dedicated to the benefits of the diet- in my opinion these would act in selling you the book, but hey- I have bought the book, I dont need to be told why I should buy it.
I have been doing the diet (strictly) for a few weeks now, the results are amazing. The diet is simple enough to follow, your never hungry, it makes you feel great, it acts in stripping the fat from your body that weight lifting can't, i.e your love handles.
It is more of a life plan than a diet, I enjoy doing it so much I can not see why I would go back to my previous nutrition routine."

"I guess they had to emphasise the whole abs thing in the title of this book so as to sell a few more copies. It's actually a much more wholesale approach to fat loss in a sustainable healthy way, with great dietary advice as well as advising you on exercise routines that are practical and that work.
If you have unrealistic expectations then sure, this book might disappoint... but then anything will disappoint if you do have unrealistic expectations. But if you want to get into good condition, then this book will help."
