ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"I really do recommend this book for anyone who wants a concise introduction to CBT. It also helps to dismiss many of the myths of CBT, for example that the past is not important and that the therapeutic relationship is not an area covered by cognitive therapists. Additionally, I like the way the authors quote Beck's original texts but they also discuss such areas as hot thoughts and different modes of mind i.e. rational and experiential and what interventions might then be used. By co-incidence I came across a strong criticism of CBT in the book 'Shoot the Dam Dog' by Sally Brampton. Whilst reading her account it would seem that the quality of CBT delivered was questionable, however one of her criticisms was that CBT only believes thoughts beget emotions and not the other way round.......this is where the experiential mind kicks in and overall this book helps the reader to see that research is ongoing, and that there is much more to CBT than many people think. For anyone training in CBT this is a must have book for the bookshelf......that of course is an assumption!"
