ABOUT THE BOOK
This text shows the reader how to develop their skills in myofascial release. Carol J. Manheim shares her expertise and understanding of the individual patient experience. Her techniques should enable the reader to interpret the appropriate feedback from the patient and respond to it with specific releases. "The Myofascial Release Manual, Third Edition" is a comprehensive resource that teaches skills of myofascial stretching. The book has a user-friendly format to clearly detail specific procedures, as well as to introduce the reader to the theory and experience of the method of myofascial release. More than 150 photographs clearly illustrate the key steps of each release and the serial layout of photographs facilitates the comprehension of the proper mechanical application of techniques. A detailed assessment is supplied for the therapist to initially evaluate the patient as well as monitor progress throughout therapy.
"If you want detailed descriptions of a pretty comprehensive range of myofascial release techniques then this is the book for you. This myofascial almanac is divided into 5 sections; introduction to MFR, the concepts and treatment protocols, Basic techniques, advanced techniques, patient evaluation and posture evaluation, so it really covers all bases. However like eating your way through a bowl of low-cal muesli it may be good for you but it takes quite a lot of chewing and digesting. One technique she describes in fine detail over 20 pages and some 40 photos! Whilst Thomas Meyers' "Anatomy Trains" is not big on manual techniques this is bulging with them, but Carol Manheim is not up to Meyer's slick presentation of his anatomical system, with it's assocaited diagnostic approaches. For a good all round package, buy both. Nonetheless, Manheim's book is a superb and thorough addition to any bodyworker's library and an even better accompaniment to practical learning and courses."
