ABOUT THE BOOK
"If you are interested in neurotransmitters, brain nutrition, 'psycho-neuro' approaches of complementary medicine, this book will teach you the basics about the brain.
It includes an accessible explanation of the now well-known framework of the TRIUNE brain: reptilian (brain stem and reticular activating system used in the stress response; mamalian (hypothalamus and the limbic system so involved in emotions); and neocortex.
It also includes technical and detailed descriptions and drawings of the brain's parts and functions (as known when the book was written), enough for a self-educated inquirer, in a language explaining many of the countless brain terms and classifications, but accessible to the neophyte.
It also includes an overview of embryology more accessible than in medical text books.
One part refers to osteopathy.
The general theoretical stance in less descriptive parts of the book is a functional and holistic one and so may be regarded as somewhat annoying for the conventional linear medicine minded but attractive for the relational thinker and alternative medicine minded.
A useful introductory book for anyone trying to understand a medical condition that involves stress and neurological or psychological symptoms, before reading more specific books on the brain or nervous system."

"Mostly an advertisement for the author's CrainioSacral therapy, this book is poorly written and full of crude hand-drawn figures."
