Written from a Christian perspective it should nonetheless appeal to anyone contemplating or engaged in a marriage relationship. It opens with some wonderfully frank, almost frighteningly incisive comments about people as individuals and why marriage is such a challenge. It goes on to look at various aspects of relationships using almost poetic writing that entertains at the same time as it challenges. By the end you cannot fail to look at your relationship and your partner in a different light. I find "marriage books" hard work. Full of things we "should do", and written it so often seems by unreal people. This is different. Buy it. Like Bill Bryson books you will keep re reading bits, nudging the person you are sitting with and reading it to them. Enjoy!"

It's written from a Christian perspective, but anyone can read it and will be provoked to think more deeply about the most amazing mystery that is the married life. I wish I could give it 6 stars!

This book is different - it's not just your cliched 'how to do it' type self-help book - it really is 'meditations on the mystery' which is it's sub-heading. Every sentence is meaty and meaningful and you will wonder at how Mike manages to put into words that which cannot be easily spoken about. The language is very metaphorical and the book literally opens your eyes to the wonder that is marriage...

I say it again - read this book!"
