USER REVIEWS
"This book gave me the confidence to believe that my (now 4month old) son was capable of sleeping for long stretches at a time, and he now sleeps happily from 8pm-6.30am each night - he's done this since around 14 weeks. No harsh techniques, just understanding how sleep works and what you can do to help things along in the most natural way, using the 'core night' as your starting point.
I lent my copy of the book to 4 other mums at my postnatal group, who were intrigued about how I had so little hassle with the whole sleep issue, and they couldn't believe how it helped to turn their sleep problems around - again, mainly just from giving them understanding and confidence.

It also helps that it's quite concise and a very easy read.

Highly recommend this book!"

"We bought the book on recommendation from a friend. It uses a baby led approach to learning to sleep through the night. The core night chapter in particular is very useful. One of the biggest hints that it gave to us though is to trust your baby to be able to sleep. Taking that advice on board stopped us running to pick both our girls up at the first noise and waiting to see if they would settle by themself first. As a result our eldest slept through 10pm-7am from 7 weeks and the youngest by 8 weeks old. It is not a cry it out approach at all - I personally am not for that sort of parenting."

"I so wanted to help my wakeful baby get a good night's sleep and this book looked promising with it's gentle approach. The 'core-night' method seemed worth a go but, despite our best efforts we are no further on. It is well-meaning and may help some but it is far from a universal solution."

"Sleep will be important throughout your child's life - I'd say sleep, food and people are the three biggies - so giving your child a secure and comfortable relationship with sleep is a huge gift.

Enter your fairy godmothers, Smith & Hollyer - and actually, they'll get your baby well started on sleep, and food, and people, and how to know which one you need at any given moment, which isn't as straightforward as it should be.

If you're worried that leaving your child to get to sleep alone is unkind, but equally worried that you're going to crack and do something dreadful if they spend three more hours asleep on your shoulder, and then shoot awake as you put them in the cot - read this!

And if you're too blood-shot to think about it, get your midwife/ health visitor/ Mum/ Mum-in-law to read it to you.

Happy parenting - remember, if you're not happy, they won't be either."

"A priceless read for any would be parents. We were so thrilled by the results we acheived after implementing the suggestions in this book that we now by it as a gift for everyone we know who is expecting a baby. These women are common sense geniuses!"
