ABOUT THE BOOK
This second edition of the highly successful "Helping Children to Build Self-Esteem" is packed with fun and effective activities to help children develop and maintain healthy self-esteem. New and updated material has been added including a section on running parent groups alongside children's groups, as well as a brand new layout, fresh illustrations, an expanded theoretical section and extra activities. Based on the author's extensive clinical experience, this activities book will equip and support teaching staff, therapists and carers in encouraging feelings of competence and self-worth in children and their families. It is primarily designed for use with individuals and groups of children aged 7-11, but the ideas can easily be adapted for both older and younger children and children with learning difficulties. This fully photocopiable resource is invaluable for anyone looking for creative, practical ways of nurturing self-esteem in children.
"'Helping Children To Build Self Esteem' is a great resource to use as a complete programme or to 'dip into' in order to focus on specific areas. The fun way in which the resource is presented and the way in which the children are encouraged to use their imagination has inspired children who have been otherwise reluctant to participate and engage effectively in group activities. As a Teaching Assistant I have found this book to be a very valuable, user-friendly and adaptable resource which I have ejoyed using and would not hesitate to recommend. "

"This book Helping Children to Build self-Esteem is a really valuable resource. It provides the means, in a natural, fun and stimulating way, to support children to grow and develop healthily. Simultaneouly, the children are being trained to make use of the imagination, which is the most powerful untapped resource, and as a result, will be available to them for their whole lifetime. Great for anyone involved in education or child care work."

"I was disappointed in this book. It's a programme of activities that's very classroom-orientated. Great if that's what you're looking for but I wanted to be inspired with new activities for my therapeutic practice and it didn't happen. In my experience, the disaffected kids I work with dislike worksheets intensely because they are made to do (and fail at) so many of them in class. Some sheets could be adapted into a more physical sense but I won't be bothering!"
