ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW

The Second Edition of Nutrition: An Applied Approach, presents introductory nutrition information to non-majors in an applied format that discourages memorization and promotes long-term understanding of the material. The authors capitalize on students’ natural interest in nutrition by demonstrating how it relates to their health and their everyday lives, and by addressing- and debunking- commonly held misconceptions students have. The applied nature of the book is also reflected in the functional organization of the micronutrient chapters.

USER REVIEWS
"This book is a fairly good introduction to the far-reaching study of nutrition. However there were a few very old-fashioned comments made about vegetarianism and veganism. The attitude towards these diets in light of all the emerging research that vegetarianism is one of the most healthful diets for the human body is rather archaic. The authors comment that one can survive on a vegetarian diet, but that a lot of caution needs to go into it when it is really very simple. They also argue that the vegan diet is deficient in many nutrients that are actually very easy to get. They also claim that the macrobiotic diet can lead to death and implied this potentially good diet should be avoided.

"This book is a good product to learn the basics about nutrition. The supplier on the other hand took forever to get the book to me...had I known that there was going to be a delay I would have not ordered the book from them..."
