ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW
More than just a compendium of diseases, this comprehensive guide is an essential resource on pathology and pathophysiology that helps students adapt their technique to ease pain and discomfort, promote healing, and avoid treatment when contraindicated. Ideal as a learning tool or as a handy quick reference, this highly illustrated resource provides discussions of more than 300 pathologies and conditions organized by the body system. Taking the reader through health assessment and client consultation, this outstanding textbook also covers sanitation procedures and hygiene, as well as general contraindications and endangerment sites.
USER REVIEWS
"This is a useful refernce for massage from the sense of getting accurate information about physical conditions in which massage is contraindicated."

"Very good book with a lot of picture to illustrate the sicknesses"

"Great reference for testing techniques, trigger point instruction and charts. Every serious massage therapist should have one on their shelf."

"I taught a pathology course for massage students using this textbook. I thought the the red/yellow/green stopligh visual would make this book a nice reference book, although I knew up front that the descriptions of some of the conditions were not entirely accurate. In reality, I found that I had to spend a great deal of time correcting the textbook each time we covered a new chapter. This text doesn't even begin to cover current pathophysiology, which I think is important so that students can begin to think about what causes disease, rather than just memorize a list of conditions where massage isn't indicated. I found many of the references questionable. We expect massage therapists to have a good scientific knowledge of the human body, why shouldn't they have an equally scientific knowledge of pathology? I will not teach with this textbook again."

"I've only had the book a week and I've used it to reference two clients already. It is loaded with useful photos and is fast and easy to use. The little traffic light icon tells you immediately if you can do a massage (green), can't do a massage (red), or if you need to read for more info (yellow). Why hasn't someone thought of this before? Thank you Ms. Salvo! Worth twice the price and its HARDCOVER!!!!"
