ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"This is a great book. I have purchased 4 copies for my siblings and my father. I have also recommended it to many friends. The book is particularly important to people with sleep problems, but is also invaluable general knowledge for all people. It is easy to read, very informative, and also entertaining. In fact, I am just finishing the last chapter, and I am planning to immediately start re-reading it. It is full of lots of great information. "

"A bit of a long read, but a great reference book. Dr.Dement and Mr. Vaughan describe one of the most overlooked aspect of health, namely sleep. But, as with most university professors, the writing is borderline text book and can be a dry read for the layperson. Personally, I have only read selected chapters of this book due to its 450 pages. I think that these two authors could put together an awesome book if they condensed it down to about 150 pages. I have heeded this book's advice. I started cutting back on my exercise, herbs and supplements and concentrated on more sleep. Even as much as 20 minutes more a day have improved my own health, mood and performance.

"I'm your run-of-the-mill insomniac, and thought I would get a few tips about how to get some better sleep from this very thick book. There were a few interesting topics discussed, but I don't feel like it did anything to help me gain an understanding of how I could sleep better. Most of the discussion was on normal sleep or disorders such as sleep apnea. The actual informational content of this book could fit into about a quarter of the pages, but the good doctor is EXTREMELY repetitive. "

"The author spends too much time telling us his life story and not enough solid information about sleep. Dated."

"The author is one of the pioneers of sleep research, totally in command of his subject and it's surprising exactly how important sleep is in a healthy lifestyle. My only complaint: I would have preferred more sleep research results and less sleep research."
