USER REVIEWS
"A concise, pocket-sized summary about tick biology, the diseases they transmit, and ways of protecting yourself against tick bites. The first three chapters describe the biology of North American ticks that affect humans. The next three chapters focus on tick-borne diseases and the final three chapters deal with personal protection and tick control. The book is very up-to-date, authoritatively written by a tick biologist, and contains much helpful information. It would be particularly valuable for people who travel around the United States and frequent recreational areas where ticks may be present. My only criticisms are:

1) The maps in my copy of the book lacked color-coded figure legends, making them more difficult to interpret.

2) The only references given are to websites. It would have been helpful, I think, to have references to the studies described in the book.

Overall, an easy read and a good resource for someone concerned about ticks and the diseases they transmit.

"Roger Drummond is a world recognized expert on ticks. His years of research in the field of acarology (study of ticks), combined with a clear, concise writing style make this a straightforward, easy-to-read book. It is packed with practical, scientifically sound information on ticks. It's a great reference for campers, hikers, and most importantly, families playing in backyards. Highly recommended!!"
