ABOUT THE BOOK
A guide to intelligent training by bodybuilding's foremost proponent of the all-round fitness lifestyle: motivation, no-hunger dieting, new routines, athletic-type strength training, high-intensity aerobics, longevity and health, and exciting personal profiles. After winning the Past-40 Mr. America, this book explains the approach that allowed the author to look even better at 60.
"I'll be honest. I am a harsh critic of books. Especially of authors who I like. That being said, this book is flawless. This is Clarence Bass' Magna Carta. This is the best book every written on combining practical weight training knowledge with an appropriate amount of cardio with precise intelligent nutrition. If you want to learn the simplest most practical way to live a long life and look goo while doing it, this is the book for you. Everything done in this book: weights, cardio and diet is backed by the most up to date scientific information available. This is not a foo foo fitness book written by some pencil neck. The guy has been training for over 55 years and still pushes heavy iron. I love his brief and intense cardio sessions and being a HIT guy I love his weight program as well. Read the book and save yourself years of wasted effort."

"Clarence Bass "walks the walk". His technique are sensible. Healthy, filling meals eliminate the obsession over calories. Short, effective workouts don't beat up your body. I feel great!!!"

"Mr. Bass gives very good training advice for older bodybuilders. His style is straight forward and clear. He warns of overtraning, a common pit fall for most bodybuilders. Mr. Bass gives diet ideas and low fat options for a lean healthy body. I think the main idea of his book is sane and healthy living. He is truly an example to us all that age in not a factor in looking great."

"We all have that short list of books we keep close at hand, the ones we go back to regularly to motivate, inform, and satisfy us. Running and Being by George Sheehan, Mastery by George Leonard, The Elements of Effort by John Jerome.
At the top of any such list are the books of Clarence Bass. Mr Bass knows what he writes about, he's lived the fitness lifestyle for 4 plus decades, he's done it and so can you. I love the well researched information, the conversational style and the readability of his books, but the best thing about them, what sets them apart is the motivation that really comes off the page. These books change lives. Bottom line. Buy his whole library and you will see for yourself. "

"Thank you Mr. Bass! This book opened my eyes, finally, and showed me why after so many years of working my butt off in the gym I still have so little to show for it. Even more, now that I've adopted the HIT program you suggest in the book, I now have so much free time back that for the first time in years I have a life outside of work and the gym. I respect what you've accomplished and I am in awe of your dedication. More than that, this book and all of your others are also your gift to the rest of us, and those for many years to come. Your work shows us not only how to stay fit and stay lean, but also enjoy a special quality of life. This is a great read and an incredible story. Thank you once again!
As a gym rat for over 15 years, I have found no better approach to fitness and leanness than "Challenge Yourself - Leanness, Fitness & Health - At Any Age." My highest recommendation!!!"
