ABOUT THE BOOK

USER REVIEWS
"I am a physiotherapist and have undertaken post graduate training in osteopathic assessment & techniques, of which Strain-Counterstrain is one of. Its a gentle but powerful technique for acute and/or persistent problems.

However the book does not have clear explanations and there are not pictures for every point. It does cover major points from cranial to toe though. You may need to do some modification of techniques depending on the practitioner size.

A good reference if you've done some positional release stuff before. I think there's other positional release books to consider as well in your library (Denise Deig, Kerry D'Ambrogio). "

"I have not read this book but I am being treated by a physical therapist who is trained in this technique. I have Fibromyalgia plus was injured in a car accident. I have been in constant severe pain for four years. Pain killers didn't help. Neither did chiropractic, naturalopathic, acupuncture, cranio sacral physical therapy, aquatic physical therapy or massage. Just by chance I found a physical therapist who uses this technique and I feel better than I have in years. I highly encourage anyone who is in any of the various bodywork professions to try this book. The author is the founder of this type of therapy. "

"This amazing book clearly explains the history, physiology, and over 150 techniques of Strain Counterstrain... and the 3 simple steps to apply it. Techniques are divided into 9 regions from Cranio-Fascial to Feet. Each section details the tenderpoint locations and 'position of comfort' for the dysfunction to disappear! There are plenty of pictures, and Dr. Jone's writing style is easy and fun to read. There is even a section on self-treatment. Whatever your background, if you put your hands on your patients, this book is essential."

"Strain-Counterstrain would be helpful if there were more photos & discriptions with each stretch. It does not give enough direction."

"This pure deductive manual of a manipulative discovery is astonishing. I have changed my 45 year medical-surgical attitude since I became aware of Jones' discoveries. It led to my desire to develope a manual to "loose-leaf" the cookbook application of his precise findings, however a Dr. Herbert Yates did just that in "Handbook of Osteopathic Technique" and saved many of us interested in body ailments from not being able to advance in our fields. And his association with Dr. L.Jones gives a continuoum knowledge of Jones' findings. I knew Jones through his book and videos and the proofs of his work through experience, and I have a devout reverence for the man and his contribution to osteopathic medical enhancement. This book keeps no secrets and is clearly written and has photos to demonstrate all technics. This is Nobel-Prize revelations in body mechanics."
