ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW
The Most Challenging Spiritual Practice -

Twenty years ago, two spiritual seekers met at a workshop on conscious dying. What happened next is the extraordinary foundation for To Love and Be Loved—a life-changing workshop on what it means to be alive and in love. Together ever since that first day, Stephen and Ondrea Levine poured all of the wisdom they gained from their work with others into the mystery of their own relationship. The result is a beautiful, unexpected unfolding: a teaching that transcends the anguish of existence to show us the way to God—through the darkest nights of our most intimate relationships.

In the depths of our personal pain, the Levines teach, lies the essence of intimacy—with both one another and God. This is why true commitment requires us to "swim across the reservoir of each other’s grief." Stephen and Ondrea show how couples can immerse themselves in the "ocean of compassion" —where they will discover how to overcome fear and replace it with mercy: the key to creativity and love.

Why are so few yogis committed to a human partner? The Levines suggest they haven’t recognized the profound value of the difficult yoga of partnership. Our intimate relationships, they teach, actually contain a complete blueprint for spiritual realization. On To Love and Be Loved, they demonstrate how to decipher and use this map.

The Teachings of a Lifetime - To Love and Be Loved brings you the crowning insights from these pioneering teachers—more than seven hours of useful exercises, meditations, and practical suggestions on five information-packed cassettes. Out of the crucible of their own experience, Stephen and Ondrea Levine point a proven way to true transformation—through the spiritual challenge of your own relationship.
USER REVIEWS
" The meditation that launches these dialogues is inspiring and encouraging allowing space so compassion is approachable. The Levine's in this workshop are truly exceptionally wise and profound. They are great examples of putting intimate relationship into practice. I have listened to these tapes again and again and again...always discovering something relevant to my life in my present circumstance. I think that this presentation can be extremely useful for any relevant relationship in your life even ones that seemed far removed. "

"This will not be a formal review. I found myself with the link available to write one, however, and just could not refrain from making a short stab at it. This set of tapes contains wisdom not just for couples but for anyone, at any time. A comprehensive base of spiritual wisdom drawn from world religions and and the best of thought is condensed into this perspective. Moreover, the suggestions that follow from it are practical and workable. How I wish I had discovered this set of tapes sooner! How I wish it were in hard copy. If you are in need of help, go here. The opening message by Stephen (both he and his wife are conducting the workshop from which the tapes were made) put me off a bit at first, with its quality of incantation. I realize now that this was likely the leading of an opening meditation. Continue. You will not be disappointed!"

"mercy, opening your heart, keeping your heart open and softening to pain because nothing is worse than a closed heart. this was all medicine to me - just what i needed."

"These tapes remind us how deep our relationships are: We are eternal beings moving consciously through the world seeking to find invisible bonds with others reflecting the nature of our love. Thanks, Ondrea and Stephen, for remindings us how sacred and human our relationships can be. -- Samuel Oliver, author of, WHAT THE DYING TEACH US: LESSONS ON LIVING."
