ABOUT THE BOOK
Over 50 million people seek to reduce stress, according to a Stanford Research Institute study. Opening to Meditation takes the mystery out of the popular practice of meditation, making it as easy as breathing with a user-friendly book and CD. The book unfolds in three sections: The Art of Meditation, How to Practice, and Common Questions. The inspirational CD, written from a Western perspective to appeal to the rapidly growing group of beginning meditators, features two guided meditations to "Open" and "Deepen" and is set to relaxing music and soothing nature sounds. Beginners and experienced alike will benefit from this innovative, easy-to-use title.
"The book is pretty and well written; however, the woman's voice on the CD is so irritating to me that I can't use it. There's no use trying to meditate when you're blood pressure is rising. Others may not have this problem."

"I have been meditating for over 30 years and I don't generally buy meditation tapes or CD's. A trusted friend recommended Diana's book and CD to me and I have been sitting with it for the past two weeks. Although the concepts presented in the book are not new to me, Diana's simplicity in her presentation of the material cuts through all of the mentality that is sometimes found in books on meditation. Very easily she sets the tone for "just being". Sitting with her voice guiding the two recorded meditations made me automatically relax. You will fall in love with her voice. It is at the same time filled with beauty, love and compassion, and still retains an essential neutrality. I found it very easy to follow her imagery, and let myself go on this journey. On top of that, every time I sit with her words filling my meditation space, I am taken someplace new, someplace deeper within, someplace unexpected. I recommend this book highly!"

"This book is written for the beginner and I am a still a novice at meditation, but this book wasn't really for me. The book is small (just a little larger than a CD case) and comes packaged with a CD. The book is short and I read it within an hour. Much of the book is focused on *why* you should meditate rather than *how* to meditate. The information on the *why* was insightful and motivated my interest in meditation. However, I wanted more details on the *how*. I believe that is probably what the CD is for. There are 2 guided meditations on the CD. I tried these, but since I am used to meditating in silence I found it too distracting for me.
It could be that I am just not into guided meditation. I started my meditiation practices from reading 8 Minute Meditation: Quiet Your Mind. Change Your Life.. That book contained a lot more information and an 8-week program that worked for me, but it doesn't use a guided CD.
This book seems like a nice gift book for inspiring someone's interest in meditation and its many benefits. Certainly there are plenty of other reviewers who enjoyed this book and got a lot out of it, but it just wasn't quite what I needed to improve my method of meditation."

"I've read a few meditation books and this is by far the best. The author explains everything in simple terms. She takes you through two excellent meditations. You will finish the book and be meditating the same day!! EXCELLENT!!"

"As someone fairly new to meditation, but having listened to a few other cd's, I found Diana Lang's to be the easiest to relax to and follow along with. The statement on the cover "A Gentle, Guided Approach" is right on. Her voice is very soothing and comforting. I love that there are two separate meditations on the cd - both 15 minutes long - which is the perfect amount of time for me."
