ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW
LL didn’t always have a diesel body—he chiseled it the old-fashioned way, with hard work and discipline. Here he shares the secrets of his transformation in a uniquely creative, yet no-nonsense regimen—enlivened with humor and sheer force of personality—that will inspire readers to enjoy working out as never before, while building a body they never thought possible. The book offers four levels of fitness, from Bronze to Platinum, including:
- a 4-week beginner’s program that takes inches off the waist and boosts energy
-a 5-week program for intermediates that increases strength while maintaining muscular and cardiovascular endurance
- an advanced 9-week program that turns the body into a muscle-building and fat-burning machine—complete with 6-pack abs and as much energy as LL Cool J
- the hardcore 3-week fat-torching program LL used for the "Control Myself" video—a new level in ripped-to-the-bone fitness and sex appeal
- a special 4-week "Diamond" program for women seeking to shape up fast for summer or an upcoming event
- meal plans and recipes that fuel workouts while burning fat with food
USER REVIEWS
"I am very happy I purchased this book.

Following LL's (and others') advice I lost 50 pounds initially then put back on 8 pounds of solid muscle. I'm not super buff but I look okay in a tank top. The best part is I only did about 70% of the cardio workouts and 90% of the weight lifting workouts I was supposed to.

The separation of workouts between bronze silver gold and platinum makes it feel much easier to do. You just think damn only 1 more week and I will have finished the bronze workout then onto the silver body! This separation makes you feel like you are accomplishing something... it worked for me.

As you get into the gold phase, the cardio gets pretty tough. If you really want to do the cardio in this workout make sure you do ALL OF IT in the first two phases or else you're screwed in the third and fourth. I never bothered moving onto the platinum workout because I was too embarassed to do 90% of the stuff in the gym (such as sprinting with ruber tubing tying you to a stationary post) and I am not too crazy about cardio (I want huge muscles).

This was a great kickstart for me to getting into shape. I am not following the platinum workout anymore (I followed it almost religiously at for a couple months) but I may return to it later during a cutting phase.

It's the perfect workout for ANYONE that wants to get super cut but if you want to get super buff the platinum workout is only good if you are a beginner. Cardio after lifting weights will help you burn fat like crazy. It did for me. But now that I'm slim I can't burn off so many calories... Cardio isn't for everyone. If you want to be demonically muscular you should try a different workout.

"i lost a 100lbs. in 1 week. Just kiddin. A great book. The workout is insane and very intense if you do it right. You also find out you can do more than you thought you could. Funny thing is that you don't get over that initial workout pain because you seem to push yourself harder and harder. "

"I've created a webpage for my own personal experience with LL Cool J's 21 week Platinum workout. It details my experiences, advice, shortcomings, strengths, etc.
concerning this workout plan. Here it is:

"I've been following this program off and on for about 6 months (taking breaks between phases to try other things and then getting back into this book). I'm currently in the middle of the Gold phase and I absolutely see a change. Working out 5-6 days a week is tough; it takes a lot of motivation and dedication. But I believe it's well worth it.

Don't be afraid to modify what's laid out in this book to tailor it to your own personal needs, but also don't be afraid to push yourself and follow the work out routines as instructed.

Probably my most favorite part of this book, is that it keeps your body guessing. That, to me, is one of the most important aspects of weight training and leading a healthy lifestyle. Mixing your heavy and light days and how you lift is essential to building a better you."

"This book is ok for the beginner but does not have great workouts or diet. Not bad but I would not get this again. "
