ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW
Geared toward pet owners who prefer alternative health and healing strategies or wish to supplement traditional veterinary medicine, this valuable guide illustrates how Ayurveda—or the “science of life”—can improve dogs’ quality of life. More than just a medical treatment, the ancient Eastern practice focuses on maintaining a sense of equilibrium through a combination of diet, herbs, meditation, massage, and crystal therapy. From the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, and ether) to the power of the mind, each facet of Ayurvedic healing is discussed with an eye to increasing pet owners’ understanding of dogs’ natural balance and creating a stronger bond between canines and humans.
USER REVIEWS
"Ayurvedic Medicine for dogs offers an innovative approach to dog wellness that I have not seen anywhere else. Relying on the ancient Indian ayurvedic tradition, it provides a new (but at the same time really ancient) way to look at our pets by dividing them into types. It only makes sense that different kinds of dog responds best to different kinds of diet, and are prone to different kind of disease. My dog is a Vata dog, and he exactly fits what the author about them!

"The book reads like a normal (not pertaining to dogs) ayurveda book, but with the word "dog" added in here and there.

The canine species varies greatly, from a 3 lb. teacup chihuahua to a 200 lb St. Bernard. This book doesn't take this very important aspect into account when giving remedies as no different dosage is indicated. The title of this book is called "Ayurvedic Medicine for Dogs" but it reads like it's written for human.

No list of counter-indication or studies that the herbs have been tested with dogs. As any dog owner knows, there's a whole list of foods such as onions, raisins, that's perfectly safe and healthy for human, but poisonous for dogs. How would I know if any of these herbs have the same effect? I would not put my dog at risk until that is indicated.

This is more an Ayurveda book than Ayurveda for Dogs. The title and the content do not match up.

To come up with a book like this, one needs to be an experienced holistic vet who has used ayurvedic medicine extensively in his/her practice. While Ayurveda is a wonderful health and healing system, this book reads like a hocus pocus to me.

This book has been a waste of time and money for me."
