ABOUT THE BOOK

EDITORIAL REVIEW

Both professional practitioners and casual massage enthusiasts will learn to raise their practice to an art with this step-by-step guide to foot massage as traditionally taught in Thailand. The practical sections of the book clearly cover the different parts of the massage process, and color photos and graphics provide clear explanations to help learners utilize the techniques with confidence. The book also covers the history and theory behind Thai foot massage, including discussions about the reflex points on the feet and the concept of Sen (energy) lines that flow throughout the body, to help explain how this ancient healing art works. Though Thai foot massage is not a curative in itself, the featured techniques can promote general health and well-being.

USER REVIEWS
"I've only gotten to about 50 pages so far and the stuff I have learned is worthwhile. It's not a massage book in the regular sense of the word. It's more of a pressure grip type while leaning into the person. Due to the rocking effect of myself it's not tiring as in what a massage would be. My wife loved the massage, can tell what parts were being worked, such as her hips while doing the "sens line". I was not tired after 20 minutes."

"This book is written exclusively about thai foot massage. A thai foot massage is different from other forms of Thai Massage, and is a bit different than your standard westernized reflexology session. This massage which could take up to 2 hours to perform, is very indepth. It involves stimulating Sen Lines (which are akin to chi meridians), for applications of eastern medicine to bring about health.

This massage begins with an unlubricated foot massage, goes onto massage with cream/oil, and proceeds to the use of a thai massage stick (for stimulation of points), and eventually the use of towel wrappings on the feet, etc. It is a very in-depth book which will help both the professional massage therapist, as well as the average peroson who wants to learn how to do this.

This is a great book for someone who wants to learn this style of massage. The diagrams are very helpful. Instead of a simple "reflexology chart" you get great full-color pictures of the feet and legs with the points illustrated, as well as directions on which type of motions you should be making.

You will be hard pressed to find any other book which discusses and demonstrates thai foot massage in this depth."
